What is a Center of Excellence in Women's Health?This designation supports OHSU and the OHSU Center for Women's Health's expertise and continued commitment to perform exemplary clinical care, research, community outreach, professional education and leadership. OHSU is one of 20 National Centers of Excellence in Women's Health (CoEs) serve as demonstration models for the nation to provide innovative, comprehensive, multidisciplinary, and integrated health care systems for women. Evaluations of existing National Centers of Excellence in Women's Health have found that this approach strengthens the focus on women's health at academic medical centers.

National Community Centers of Excellence in Women's HealthDesignated centers partner with the National Community Centers of Excellence in Women's Health (CCOEs), a network of 11 community health centers and clinics that provide funding to existing community-based organizations to develop models of comprehensive, preventive care for underserved women of all races across their life span, and to replicate these models in other communities and organizations.

National Rural/Frontier Women’s Health Coordinating CentersThe DHHS Office on Women’s Health also supports 11 National Rural/Frontier Women’s Health Coordinating Centers (RFCCs). These Centers identify, coordinate and leverage a network of existing resources to provide a full range of culturally and linguistically appropriate health services to women and their families in rural and frontier communities.

Ambassadors for ChangeIn 2005, a new program was estabnlished: Ambassadors for Change, which are made up of former CoEs and CCOEs who serve as mentors to the existing CoEs and CCOEs. These CoEs include: Drexel University, Magee Womens Hospital and University of California, San Fanscisco. And CCOES include: Northeast Missouri Health Council, Inc., Mariposa Community Health Canter and St. Barnabas Hospital.

OHSU Center of Excellence Staff
Michelle Berlin, M.D., M.P.H. is the center director of the OHSU Center of Excellence in Women's Health. She works closely with the respective OHSU directors of the five Center of Excellence components.

Marjorie McGee, M.S., is the CoE coordinator of the OHSU Center of Excellence in Women's Health. She
works closely with Dr. Berlin and the respective OHSU directors of the five Center of Excellence components.
