Integrating a women's health focus into medical school curriculum
OHSU is nationally recognized for its educational programs at throughout the educational continuum: students, residents and practicing physicians. We are working to develop, implement, and evaluate a longitudinal curriculum in women's health. The goal of the Professional Education section of the OHSU Center of Excellence (CoE) is to develop culturally competent health care professional training/education program in women’s health, including prevention.
To accomplish this, the objectives of the OHSU CoE Professional Education Component include:
Provide diverse training/education programs
Develop or expand training/education programs
Develop or expand the numbers of individuals in residency and fellowship programs in women’s health
Develop or expand curriculum component in women’s health module
Use new information technologies in the provision of education and training of health care professionals (HCP) including those in rural areas
Collaborate on professional education/training activities with other institutions and programs
We are aided in these activities by the Women’s Health Care Competencies sponsored by the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics (APGO) Women’s Healthcare Education Office (WHEO).
