Make a Gift to the Campaign for Women's Health

Since the day it opened its doors, the OHSU Center for Women’s Health has helped redefine women’s health care by uniting outstanding clinical care, advanced research and innovative patient education in one convenient location. The Campaign for Women's Health funds these efforts.

Now you can donate online to the Campaign for Women's Health. This is the fastest and easiest way to support the programs of your choice at the Center for Women's Health.

Please note: in order for online gifts to be counted in the current tax year, you must make your donation before midnight between December 31 and January 1.

More Ways to Give

For any of the following giving options, you may designate your gift in honor or in memory of a loved one. We will notify the next-of-kin or appropriate individual of your thoughtful gift.

Gifts by Check

Please make checks payable to the OHSU Foundation Campaign for Women's Health. If you prefer, designate one or more specific Center for Women's Health programs that you want to support. Undesignated or unrestricted gifts go to the area of greatest need. Mail to:

OHSU Foundation
Campaign for Women's Health
1121 S.W. Salmon Street
Suite 200
Portland, OR 97205

Checks must be mailed and postmarked on or before December 31 to be tax-deductible in that year.

Gifts by Credit Card

To make a gift by credit card, please call 503 228-1730 or 800 462-6608 Monday through Friday between 8 am and 5 pm (Pacific time zone) or visit our secure server and make an online donation.

Gifts made on a credit card are tax deductible in the year the card is charged.

Gifts of Property and Goods (Gifts in Kind)

Antiques, art, boats, and other items may be excellent gifts. If the item can be used by the Center for Women's Health (office equipment or library books, for example), its full fair market value may be deducted. If the item will probably be sold by the foundation, or if OHSU can not use it in its normal operations, the deduction is limited to the cost basis of the item. For more information on gifts of property and goods, please call our department of planned giving, 503 228-1730 or 800 462-6608, or e-mail .

Pledges

Making a pledge to the Center for Women's Health allows you to make installment payments on your gift. Monthly or annual pledges are available through any department. For more information on this type of gift, contact Evelyn Lamb at 503 228-1730 or 800 462-6608, or e-mail .

Gifts of Real Estate

A gift of a residence, vacation home, or investment property can provide significant resources to the Center for Women's Health while maximizing tax benefits for the donor. To find out more about making a gift of real estate, please call our department of planned giving, 503 228-1730 or 800 462-6608, or e-mail

Gifts of Stock

Gifts of stock provide a double tax benefit for donors. You can deduct the full fair market value of your appreciated stock, not just what you originally paid, and you save again by avoiding all capital gains taxes on your "paper profit." Benefit your area of choice at the Center for Women's Health, or give to the area of greatest need by making an unrestricted gift. For more information on giving stock, please call our department of planned giving, 503 228-1730 or 800 462-6608, or e-mail .

Matching Gifts

Many businesses participate in matching gift programs. This is a great way to increase the impact of your donation dollars. To find out if your company will match your gift, ask your personnel or human resources department.

Planned Gifts

Planned gifts are significant gifts that involve careful planning according to a person's financial and estate circumstances. These are called deferred gifts because the benefit for the Center for Women's Health is deferred until the future, although the donor benefits immediately from the gift plan. These life income gift plans offer you, or someone you designate, an income for life, an immediate income tax deduction for the donor, and potential estate planning benefits.

Gift Annuities
Provide fixed payments for the life of one or two individuals. Amount of the annual payment is based on age of the income beneficiaries at the time of the gift (the older the recipient, the larger the payout rate). Part of income may be tax-free. $5,000 minimum to participate.

Pooled Income Fund
Gifts from many donors are pooled for investment purposes. Each donor receives a pro rata share of the earnings each year. $5,000 minimum to participate.

Charitable Remainder Unitrusts
Especially for appreciated assets and real estate. An irrevocable trust that provides an income for the donor(s)' life or up to 20 years. Provides a variable income based on a percentage of the annual value of the trust assets as determined each year. $50,000 minimum to participate.

Charitable Remainder Annuity Trusts
Excellent for older donors with appreciated stock. An irrevocable trust that pays a fixed dollar amount each year for the donor(s)' life or up to 20 years. $50,000 minimum to participate.

Charitable Lead Trusts
A trust that provides distributions to the OHSU Foundation Campaign for Women's Health to benefit the Center for Women's Health for a certain number of years. In most cases, the principal is then distributed to your children and/or heirs at greatly reduced gift and estate tax rates.

Life Estate Gifts
It may be advantageous to donate your residence, farm, or vacation home now to the OHSU Foundation Campaign for Women's Health and reserve the right to live in the home or use the property for life. You can receive an income tax deduction now, and retain the right to enjoy and use the property for the rest of your life.

Estate Gifts
Many friends of the Center for Women's Health have provided significant support through their estate plans. A bequest can also be made through a living trust. Naming the Center for Women's Health as a beneficiary in your will entitles you to membership in our Sam Jackson Guild. It is important to consult with your attorney to determine whether your charitable bequest can be made by drafting a codicil to your existing will or if a new will is needed.

Gifts through Wills and Trusts
Gifts made through wills or living trusts are an excellent way to leave a legacy to support critical advances in women's health research and patient care at the Center for Women's Health.

Attorneys and financial advisers are directed to our Planned Giving Design Center for more technical information on estate and charitable planning issues.
