Childbirth Facilities in the OHSU Center for Women’s Health

Specialized facilities provide state-of-the-art care and comforts.

Our childbirth facilities were designed with your comfort and care needs in mind. Our specialized equipment and services are available around the clock to provide care during your pregnancy and birth.

Birthing Suites

All of our private birthing rooms are designed to support your needs during labor and delivery. Along with private baths and amenities such as jacuzzi tubs, each room is fully equipped with the latest technology to assist with labor and birth. The birthing suites also contain cesarean birth rooms designed to meet the special needs of surgery and to accommodate your birth partner.

The midwifery practice at OHSU offers the option of having a water birth, using our special birthing tub.

Each birth suite is complete with all the equipment necessary to address any emergent birth need.

Each birth suite has a private bath with a jacuzzi tub and shower.

Mother Baby Unit

Following the birth of your baby, you will go to the Mother Baby Unit. The Mother Baby Unit is designed to provide family centered care in a safe, comfortable and nurturing environment. Your baby will stay with you, and most of our beautiful rooms offer sleeping accommodations for your partner.

Privacy and safety are our utmost concern. The OHSU Center for Women's Health maintains a security system that helps ensure a safe and secure environment for moms and babies.

Rooms in the Mother Baby Unit offer space for your partner and your baby to stay with you during recovery.

Doernbecher Neonatal Care Center

The Doernbecher Neonatal Care Center (DNCC) is adjacent to the Mother Baby Unit and designed to care for newborn infants who have special needs at birth. The DNCC has specially trained physicians, nurses, and other health professionals who provide skilled care to critically ill infants, as well as capable and loving care to those who are growing and maturing before going home.

The DNCC’s staff welcomes families of patients, provides family centered care, and encourages parents to visit as often as possible. Parents are considered a valuable part of the health care team; their questions and suggestions are welcomed.

OHSU Perinatal Center in Doernbecher

The Perinatal Center of the OHSU Center for Women’s Health offers cutting-edge technology and new approaches to address high-risk pregnancies from pre-conception, through pregnancy and beyond. The OHSU Perinatal Center offers the latest in genetic counseling, ultrasonography and prenatal diagnosis.

Fertility Services, Ultrasound and Genetics at South Waterfront

OHSU Fertility Consultants recently moved to the Center for Health and Healing at South Waterfront. The facility also includes leading-edge equpiment for ultrasound and genetics for the OHSU Perinatal Center.
