Jeffrey Jensen, M.D.

A native of the northwest, Dr. Jensen completed medical school at Emory University, an internship at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose, and an OB/GYN residency at OHSU. He has been board certified since 1990. Prior to accepting a faculty position at OHSU in 1992, he served in the medical corp of the United States Navy. Dr. Jensen was appointed the first Leon Speroff Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology in 2003. He is the Director of the Women's Health Research Unit and the Vulvar Pain Clinic, and a collaborating scientist at the Oregon National Primate Research Center. His special clinical interests include vulvar disease and family planning. Dr. Jensen's research focus includes preclinical investigations of new contraceptive methods, and clinical trials in Family Planning and vulvar disease. In his leisure time, Dr. Jensen enjoys birding, running, camping, biking and hiking with his family.

Leon Speroff, M.D.

Associate Director

After graduating Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, Dr. Speroff completed his residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital in Ohio.  Following fellowship training at the Worcester Foundation for Experimental Biology in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, he spent a number of progressive years at Yale University School of Medicine, New Haven, Connecticut until he became a member of the OHSU faculty as professor and chairman of the department of obstetrics and gynecology in 1976.  In 1983 he returned to his Alma Mater, Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine as professor and chairman of the department of reproductive biology until returning to OHSU in 1989.  He is the founder and recently stepped down as director for the Women's Health Research Unit at OHSU.  Doctor Speroff has gained prominence in the area of women's health throughout his publications, national and international lectures and extensive work on clinical trials.

Heidi Printz, Ph.D.

Department Manager

Heidi Printz is the Manager of the Women’s Health Research Unit and she joined our team in 2004. Heidi holds a Ph.D. in Health Policy and Politics, with an emphasis on Women’s Health Policy, from the University of London. Heidi has a diverse background in health care management and prior to coming to OHSU she had resided and worked in the Czech Republic, Austria, Germany, and Croatia. Heidi graduated from the University of Oregon in 1994, with a B.A. in History and Literature.

Marci Messerle Forbes, R.N., F.N.P.

Senior Research Associate

Marci Messerle Forbes joined the WHRU as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2004. Marci also sees patients at OHSU’s Center for Women’s Health. She completed her Master’s and Doctorate of Nursing at Case Western in Cleveland, Ohio is 1998. Since that time, Marci has been working in women’s health and is an experienced colposcopist in addition to her varied skills as a family nurse practitioner. Marci graduated from the University of Oregon in 1993 with a BS in General Science and an emphasis on Biology.

Andrea O'Donnell, R.N., F.N.P.

Senior Research Associate

Andrea O’Donnell joined our team as a Nurse Practitioner in 2004. Andrea also sees patients at OHSU’s Center for Women’s Health. Before coming to OHSU, she was working with Planned Parenthood while earning her Nurse Practitioner degree from OHSU.
